Team Leader
Dr. Iftekhar Anam is a distinguished Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Asia Pacific (UAP). He earned his Ph.D. from Texas A&M University with a perfect CGPA of 4.00. Since joining UAP in 2000, Dr. Anam has made significant contributions to teaching, curriculum development, and research in structural dynamics, including earthquake engineering and dynamic soil-structure interaction. His research interests also extend to ocean wave mechanics, and he is recognized for developing the first earthquake shake table in Bangladesh and for leading high-level structural design review and vetting assignments for major buildings and institutions.
Led structural assessment and retrofitting of existing buildings using GFRP bars
Published research in ASCE, ASME, and ISOPE journals
Developed earthquake-resistant design manuals for Bangladesh
Supervised numerous theses on seismic analysis and structural performance
Developed the first earthquake shake table in Bangladesh and supervised seismic, retrofitting, and vibration-control research
Ph.D. dissertation: Evaluation of the Dynamic Response of Spar Platforms; M.S. thesis: Dynamic Stiffnesses of Embedded Foundations
Assistant Editor, UAP Journal of Civil and Environmental Engineering and the first Technical Bulletin of the CE Department, UAP
Resource person for earthquake-resistant design/construction and structural dynamics training courses
Mentorship and research-driven solutions are the keys to advancing the engineering landscape. We aim for excellence by bridging the gap between academic theory and practical engineering.
